Let's talk about being a Values Based Business

These last two years have changed my entire lookout as it applies to how I run my business. If you follow me on social media (@abbiedarlingcustoms), you already know that I value social justice, equity, and human rights over pretty much anything else. I strive to include donations regularly to causes that need to be amplified, and it means so much that I am able to give back even a little through this business.

As a Values Based Business, Social Justice is at the core of the principles that drive me and my business- I am very vocal about my beliefs around any form of racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ageism, ableism, and misogyny- and how there is no place for them. I am very vocal about these beliefs as I would rather not make a sale if it is to a person that upholds any of these beliefs.

In the past, other entrepeneurs have asked if this values based strategy has impacted sales negatively? My response; I don't care if it has. I believe that people and businesses (especially those with any kind of platform, which our businesses are) MUST speak out against injustice- if it pisses off a few bigots, I am okay with that! Personally, I would rather lose money than have someone wear a piece I have created that could represent anything other than total inclusion and equity.
